Letter From The President
That sustainability is increasingly going to be a key strategic driver of the consumer goods industry is widely accepted today. Some of the big challenges before the industry today include:
- The high environmental footprint associated with the use of materials, energy, water and the consequent generation of waste.
- The emerging paradigm of product stewardship wherein end customers expect products to be designed, made, sold and disposed in both, an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
- Deep supply chains spanning multiple geographies with varying environmental and labor standards.
- The constantly increasing scrutiny from customers, civil society and regulators of the health and safety standards of consumer products.
Given the above challenges, we believe that the adoption of sustainability practices within an organization is no longer just desirable but imperative.
Going forward, our future direction in sustainability will be to expand our current initiatives in environmental and product stewardship as well as to add new programs in our supply chain and community care. We are at an early stage of our sustainability journey, to recognize the challenges as well as opportunities that lie before us. We are committed to demonstrating the perseverance and leadership required to walk this path.
Yours Truly,
Vineet Agrawal
